Tavern 109

This historic, Second Empire building was considered a blight to downtown Williamston. Previous tenants had tried to remodel the structure and failed, leaving a partially completed building that was a serious fire risk and a huge detraction to the city’s downtown scene.

By structuring a local investment group, utilizing grants from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), and rounding out the funding with Federal Historic Tax Credits and Michigan Rental Rehab grants, the building’s facade was brought back to its original 1870s appearance.

With the restaurant’s job creation, Signature Building Grants were gifted in order to complete the process and add this robust restaurant/housing project to the Williamston downtown district.
